How VISCOM technology works.
Measurement methods, control technology and patents behind the VISCOM Flowbench systems — for everyone who wants to know what's behind the numbers.
VIS COM Automotive GmbH manufactures flow benches for calibrating the variable turbine geometry (VTG) of turbochargers. The following sections explain the technical fundamentals: the measurement method , the integrated iCOM/iPROG systems for actuator programming, and the patented TM-A adapter system .
Measurement methods
Our flow benches precisely measure the air mass flow as a function of the guide vane position. The variable turbine geometry (VTG) is adjusted electrically or pneumatically, while sensors reliably measure pressure profiles and mass flow values. This generates a detailed VTG characteristic curve – the basis for calibration in the engine control unit or for quality assurance. The test benches are individually configurable for all turbocharger sizes and deliver reproducible measurement results for development, production, and repair.
iCOM & iPROG
The premium edition of our Flow Benches tests and programs electronic VTG actuators and solenoid valves directly on the test bench. The iCOM system supports leading manufacturers such as HELLA, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Sonceboz, Denso, and Pierburg via a plug-and-play adapter solution. The iPROG module programs electronic VTG actuators directly on the Flow Bench – VISCOM claims to be the world's first manufacturer to integrate a fully functional programming device for VTG actuators directly into the test bench.
Patents & Innovation (TM-A adapter system)
The patented VISCOM™-A adapter system enables the rapid mounting of turbochargers on the flow bench – using neodymium magnet technology and four different adapters that cover approximately 95% of all common turbocharger types. Mounting takes only a few seconds and can even be operated with work gloves via the industrial touchscreen. The system is complemented by proprietary software, a modular machine design, and the iCOM/iPROG systems for actuator control.
